Director of Development
School Choice Wisconsin (SCW)

School Choice Wisconsin (SCW) and its companion organization, the Alliance for Choices in Education (ACE), are seeking an experienced Director of Development to prepare and execute a development plan.

SCW is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide accurate information about the impact of school choice programs on families, communities and public schools.  ACE is an advocacy organization that works legislatively to expand and protect school choice programs.  Both organizations are based in Milwaukee, WI, where parents have more educational options than in any city in the nation.

Responsibilities

The Director of Development will:

• Develop and implement fundraising programs for each organization;
• Cultivate and solicit key donors, working with the president and key staff as appropriate;
• Conduct research, develop prospects, and organize meetings and other events for the president of SCW and the board chair of ACE;
• Prepare proposals, marketing materials, grant reports and correspondence;
• Develop and execute an effective plan to retain donors and increase support;
• Work closely with the staff and board of directors of SCW and ACE.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Strong leadership and organizational skills;
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
• Experience in nonprofit and/or political fundraising;
• Ability to work independently and be self motivating;

• Commitment to education reform that provides educational choice for parents.

The position offers the opportunity to work with dedicated staff and to participate in all aspects of the organization’s mission.  Some travel is required.

Salary

Salary commensurate with experience.
